# 2015-07-11 Inspired by Markus' Unix diary [1] I have decided to start my own Unix diary. I have thought about this a couple of times, but never got the right incentive. Because I slipped more and more into Unix there was never any certain point where I could say ``Ahh, now here is this point where I will start discovering Unix!''. But now there is an upcoming exam at university, which I will take as part of my master studies. During the semester I had little time to participate in the exercises and lectures surrounding this certain course (Systemnahe Software 2). But now I have two weeks of preparation time and intend to take this preparation phase as an incentive to start my Unix diary. Up until here most of my knowledge on Unix was on a non-systematic basis, I read some stuff here and there and connected some dots. But there was no complete picture. I feel that this course already helped me gather a broader more complete understanding. This diary will be quite pragmatic. I intend to use plain 80 CPL text files to reduce the overhead and barrier to write something. With my ``real'' blog [2] I feel that I tend to get lost in formatting and thus some posts never made it. With this diary however I intend to keep everything minimal and pragmatic. I intend to also sometimes write short entries of little observations and stuff. Having ``a new blog entry'' to me somehow has the meaning of something more heavyweight.
